Southington Man Arrested On Gun Charge

A Thursday domestic dispute on Flanders Road led to gun charges against a Southington man.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Thursday domestic dispute on Flanders Road led to gun charges against a Southington man, police said.

The incident took place at 7:22 p.m., police said. Michael Walcott, 44, of Southington, was arrested and charged with second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct and criminal possession of a firearm.

Walcott's initial $200,000 surety bond was knocked down to $10,000 after his arraignment, which he failed to post, police said. His case was continued to Dec. 7, records show.

Police said Walcott allegedly threatened to kill the victim in the case while the victim was sleeping. He then allegedly chased the victim to the upper level of the house, but the victim ran into a bedroom and closed the door, police said.

Another person in the residence then called 911, police said.

The victim and witness reported hearing the sound of a firearm being “racked,” but no one saw Walcott with a gun, a report indicates.

A gun was found in the residence and police then discovered that Walcott had previous felony convictions out of Massachusetts and is not eligible to possess a firearm, according to a report.
