Southington Man Charged After Choking Incident: Cops

Southington police arrested a local man after an alleged choking incident, according to a report.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington man is facing two criminal charges after an animated domestic incident involving multiple people, police said.

On Sept. 26 at 4:53 p.m., Slawomir Popielarczyk, 40 of Southington was arrested and charged with risk of injury to child and disorderly conduct, police said.

He appeared in court once, posted a $25,000 surety bond and is back before a judge on Nov. 16, judicial system records show.

According to a report, Southington police received a 911 call after Popielarczyk became involved in a verbal with someone "concerned" about him allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The argument continued and another person entered the room to see what the argument was about, according to a report. As the argument escalated, Popielarczyk attempted to get a telephone from the person and then put the person in a choke hold, a report indicates.

He also pushed the first person, according to a report.

A juvenile witness became "fearful" over watching the incident, called a "third party" to the residence for help and eventually 911 was called. according to police.

Officers on scene noted that the juvenile witness was "visibly upset," according to a report.
