Southington Man Charged With Burglary, Assault After Break-In

A Southington man is accused of breaking into a home.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington man is accused of breaking into a home, assaulting the occupant and driving away in a car while committing all sorts of violations, police said.

Police on Friday charged 60-year-old Southington resident Terrance Secore with third-degree burglary, violation of a protective order, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, second-degree criminal mischief, failure to insure a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and the improper use of a marker plate.

Police said the charges stemmed from an incident in which Secore allegedly entered a former girlfriend’s home through an unlocked door without permission.

According to a report, he refused to leave, began yelling at the person inside and pushed the person to the floor. He then "vandalized" a piece of furniture before leaving, according to a report.

At the time of this incident, there was an active protective order in place between the victim and Secore, according to a report.

Secore was located nearby a short time later driving an uninsured car with a suspended license using a canceled plate that did not belong on the vehicle, police said.

He was held on a $25,000.00 bond and scheduled to appear in Bristol Court on Friday, according to a report.
