Southington Man Is Charged with Sexual Assault of 10-year-old Girl
The suspect knew the victim, according to police.

A Southington man who already pleaded guilty to several sexual assault charges, has been arrested on new charges stemming from the assault of a 10-year-old girl.
The suspect was arrested Oct. 8 when he appeared in state Superior Court in New Britain on the other charges, according to Southington Police.
Police said they obtained an arrest warrant for Luis M. Maldonado, 33, “after an investigation by the Southington Police Department determined that Maldonado sexually assaulted a 10-year-old female known to him within the Town of Southington in 2013 and 2014.”

Maldonado was charged with first-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual assault, and three counts of risk of injury to a minor. Bond was set at $750,000.
Maldonado has been in custody at the Northern Correctional Institution and has pleaded guilty to first- and second-degree sexual assault charges stemming from incidents in 2-012, 2013, and 2014 in Southington, Plainville and New Britain, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 29.
