Southington Man Crashes into Pole With Car, Runs Away: Report
The crash was near the man's home, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man has been charged with drunken driving after hitting a pole across the street from his home, moving the car and then running from the scene. police said.
On April 12 at at 2 p.m., the Southington Police Department received a report of a vehicle with fresh damage to the hood and bumper running in the parking lot of the Library, 255 Main St.
It was also reported that the operator appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

A responding Fire Deptartment unit observed a male, later identified as Edward Ximenez, 44 of Southington, running from the area, police said.
Officers located Ximenez at his residence and observed signs of intoxication, police said.

The Officer administered standardized Field Sobriety tests, which Ximenez failed, police said.
An investigation showed that Ximenez was operating his vehicle on Main Street and the left front of the
vehicle struck a utility pole, police said.
After the impact, it appears Ximenez parked in the library lot and then moved the vehicle in his driveway at 319 Main St., directly across the street from the pole that was struck before running away, police said.
No injuries were reported excdept for the pole, which sustained cosmetic damage, police said.
Ximenez was charged with evading with property damage and driving under the influence, police said.
He scheduled to appear in court on April 24, police said.
