Southington Mandates Lawn Watering Schedule
Citing the dry summer, Southington's water department has implemented and odd/even system for folks to water their lawns.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Citing dry weather this summer, the Town of Southington Thursday issued a mandatory lawn watering schedule for residents to follow in order to save water.
Essentially, the town is implementing an "even/odd" schedule based on the numerical street address for your house or property.
"Due to the dry weather that the State of Connecticut is experiencing, the Southington Water Department is implementing a mandatory lawn watering schedule," the town wrote on its Facebook page.

According to the water department, street addresses that end in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) must water their lawn on even days of the month.
As an example, if your street address is 44, then you can only water your lawn on even days of the month, say July 24.

A similar situation arises with odd street addresses (1, 3, 5, 7, 9), which means folks can only water their lawns on odd number days of the month.
For example, a street address of 143 Main St. means a lawn can only be water on odd days of the month, such as July 23.
If there is no numerical street address tied to a property, they can water lawns on the even days of the month, according to the water department.
