Southington Motel 6 Employee Accused of Pocketing 'Refunds'
He faked room complaints, according to a warrant.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A front desk clerk at the local Motel 6 apparently left an extra light on for himself, police said.
He is now facing fraud charges for allegedly fudging room rate reimbursements and pocketing the money, according to a news release.
On Aug. 30, Plainville Police detained Edwin Martinez Jr., 37. of Plainville, after learning that Martinez had an active warrant out of Southington.

Martinez was transported to the Southington Police Department, where he was processed and charged with fith-degree computer crimes and six-degree larceny, police said.
Martinez was released on a $2,500 bond was given an appearance date of Sept. 12 in Bristol Superior Court, according to a news release.

The warrant stems from an investigation that began on July 30, at the Southington Motel 6, 625
Queen St.
The warrant alleges that Martinez, front desk staffer, manipulated room fee transactions in the hotel computer system to appear that a guest was not satisfied with the room and the guest was refunded money.
The warrant further alleges that the guest was never dissatisfied with the room, that money was never returned to the guest and that Martinez kept the money, according to a news release.
There were five transactions between July 9, and July 21, for which Martinez allegedly falsified the records and kept the cash, according to a news release.
The total amount is $331.26, police said.
