Southington Mourns Death Of Longtime Local Leader
A decades-long stint of service included time on the zoning board, town council and the board of fire commissioners.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The town Friday is mourning the recent loss of a veteran public servant who spent years representing residents on various boards and commissions.
The Town of Southington said Friday morning that longtime community leader Dolores Longo, 88, has died.
As a result, the Town of Southington flag will be flown at half-staff at Southington Town Hall in honor of the longtime Democrat.

Local officials said Longo was "a longtime Southington businesswoman and she devoted decades of service to the people of the Town of Southington."
Among her many roles on local boards, commissions and subcommittees were stints on the Southington Town Council, Southington Planning and Zoning Commission and Southington Board of Fire Commissioners.

The Southington Fire Department posted a statement on social media Friday morning expressing its sadness at Longo's passing.
"Our condolences to Dolore’s family and friends, and colleagues. We’re thankful for the many years of service she provided the town, several of those serving on the board of fire commissioners," wrote the SFD.
