
George W. Sward, 85, of Southington, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center. He was the husband of the late Mary (Calabro) Sward.
Born November 18, 1930 in Hartford he was the son of the late Walter A. and Edythe Sward. George retired as a Major with the U.S. Army, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was an avid golfer, painter and loved hiking.
He is survived by his children, Donna Morin and husband Paul of Southington, George W. Sward Jr. and wife Doreen of Plantsville and Sherri Blanchette and husband Robert; four brothers, Walter, Jerry, John and James Sward; five grandchildren, Jolene M. Miceli, George W. Sward III, Brian Sward, Keith Sward, Mathew Sward and Lonni DiNello; three great-grandchildren, Alex G. Miceli, LillyAnna Miceli and Logan A. Miceli.

George’s family would like to thank the Alzheimer’s Resource Center for all their care given to their dad.
In recognition of his service to our country full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
