Southington Obituary: Richard Almquist, Sr., 82

Richard A. Almquist Sr., 82, of Southington passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the HCC of New Britain General. He was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Nancy J. Almquist for over 55 years.

Born March 31, 1934 in New Britain, he was the son of the late Esther Ericson. Richie retired from Crowley after working in the automotive industry for his entire life. His love of cars earned him the nickname of “Mr. Chrysler” and “Richie Fury”. He loved to “putter” around in his garage.

He is survived by two children, Karen Perry and husband “Bo” of Plainville and Richard Almquist Jr. of Southington; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gale of Kensington and Shelby Jordan whom he loved as his own granddaughter. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Norman Olson.

A Memorial Service for both Richard and Nancy will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 145 Main St., Southington. A private graveside service was held at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington is assisting the family with the arrangements.
