Southington Obituary: Sebastian Sollecito, 90

Condolences to his family and friends.

Sebastian “ Sebby” Sollecito, 90, of Southington, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of the late Concetta “Tina” (Zimmitti) Sollecito.

He was born in Siracusa , Sicily, Italy on Septmeber 16, 1927. He immigrated to the United States in 1960. After working for 7 years at various clothing manufacturers, in 1967 he started working at Aetna Life and Casualty. During his 23 years of employment there, he was instrumental in establishing an Operational Unit that was responsible for the daily mailing of over 200,000 claims payments.

Sebby lived in Plainville for 32 years, then moved to Spring Lake Village in Southington where he served on the Board of Directors for Condo 5 as well as many committees. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening and swimming.

He is survived by a son Anthony Sollecito of Owego, NY, two daughters Rita Brangi and her husband Robert of S. Windsor, Linda Naples and her husband Angelo of Wolcott, five grandsons; AJ and Matthew Naples, Austin and Avery Brangi, and Hunter Sollecito. He also leaves Carol Taft, a close beloved friend and travel companion. In Italy he is survived by a sister, Carmela Sollecito; a sister in law, Lucia (D’Angelo) Sollecito; a niece and three nephews.He was predeceased by a brother Antonio, and his sister Francesca.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. in Southington. Funeral Service will be held Saturday 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain.
