William "Bill" Arthur Generous, 83, of Southington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 27, 2016.
Born in New Britain on April 20, 1932, Bill was the son of the late William Alfred and Margaret Generous and is predeceased by his two brothers, Howard and Harold Generous of New Britain. Bill grew up in New Britain, where after attending school, he served his country in the Naval Reserve. He was employed by the New Britain Machine Company for 30 years and later worked at Stanley Works until retirement. In his retirement years, he could be found enjoying coffee daily at Starbucks with friends and taking several journeys to Las Vegas, one of his favorite places.
He always had a passion for history, particularly the Civil War era. He enjoyed absorbing and appreciating the historical significance of our country's past by visiting Gettysburg and other Civil War battlefields and by engaging others in lively discussion over historical events and history facts. One of his favorite pastimes was working in his yard planting flowers and enjoying nature, where he took pride and joy sharing the outcome of his garden with family and friends.
