Southington PD Announces Some Staff Changes
One veteran law enforcer was welcomed to the force while another's tenure serving a regional disaster-response team has ended.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police recently welcomed a new, experienced officer to the department while another veteran law enforcer retired from a longtime role.
Tuesday, the Southington Police Department welcomed Officer Robert Knapp to the force.
He was sworn into duty at Southington Town Hall and he has several years of law enforcement experience.

According to the SPD, Knapp is a certified officer with prior service time in the Bridgeport and Fairfield police departments, meaning he doesn't need to attend the Connecticut Police Academy.
Meanwhile, SPD officer Michael Fisher's time serving on the Central Region Emergency Response Team ended Tuesday after five years.

The team's job is to mobilize the public response to severe emergencies in a community, whether if be man-made or natural disasters in several area towns.
"Thank you Officer Fisher for your commitment to the community and this assignment," wrote the SPD.
