Southington PD Gifted With Life-Saving Devices
Southington police now have portable devices that can suck out an obstruction in a choking victim's airway.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Police officers are charged with doing much more than just going after the bad guys.
They're often the first on the scene whenever disaster strikes, bit it is a medical emergency, accident, or fire.
And, thanks to a recent donation, members of the Southington Police Department are better prepared to save lives, namely those at risk of dying from choking.

Recently, Frank Castellano, an official with the Knights of Columbus Assembly #122 of Southington, showed up at the SPD with 20 so-called "Life Vac" devices.
Live Vacs are portable devices that allow any responder to suck out obstructions from a person's throat when choking.
