Southington PD Promotes Eight

Announcement made this week, including the appointment of a new lieutenant in charge of administrative operations.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The town's police department this week announced a new round of promotions within its ranks.

The announcements were made Wednesday via social media, with the Southington Police Department issuing formal congratulations to all.

The following police staffers were promoted:

• Brian Leppard who was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and he will be the commander of the SPD's administrative operations.

• Officers Thomas Atterrato and Brandon Massarelli were promoted to the rank of detective and both were assigned to the department's detective division.

• James Armack, Mark Dibattista and Ryan Lair were each promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Armack will supervise the department's detective division.

Meanwhile, Dibattista and Lair will both be supervisors assigned to the SPD's patrol division.

• Justin Burke and Chad J. Butler were both promoted to the rank of master sergeant.

According to the department, Burke and Butler will each serve as the shift commander of the night patrol shifts.
