UPDATE: Police Say Situation Resolved; Southington Resident Hospitalized Following Barricade Incident
The incident began late Wednesday morning and continued into the evening; Road is reopened.

Update 7:50 p.m.
Southington Police say they have cleared Atwater Street following a daylong situation involving a person barricaded inside a home.
This is the statement police released at 7:28 p.m., Sept. 23:

“On 09/23/15 at approx. 6:15 pm , Stephen Cieszynski, age 46, of 108 Atwater Street was taken via ambulance to a local hospital for an evaluation without further incident. There were no injuries reported during this incident. No charges have been filed at this time. Officers have cleared the scene and Atwater Street is open to vehicular traffic.”

Update: 4:45 p.m.
Here is the Southington Police statement on the ongoing situation that has closed Atwater Street.
“On 09/23/15 at approx. 11:45 am Southington Police Officers responded to a residence on Atwater ST. on a report of a welfare check. During the course of the investigation, the subject of the welfare check barricaded themselves inside the residence. Officers on scene are attempting to make contact with the person inside the residence. As a result of this incident, Atwater ST. is closed between Canal ST. and the I-84 exit #30 off ramp.”

The Southington PD is confirming that there is a Police Incident in Southington on Atwater Street and a portion of Atwater Street is closed late Wednesday afternoon.
Police made the announcement shortly after 4 p.m.
