Man In Attempted Home Depot Theft Identified: Southington PD: UPDATE

The incident happened Monday afternoon, with Southington police releasing surveillance images of the suspect Tuesday morning.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police were looking for the identity of a suspect captured on surveillance at a local Home Depot attempting to shoplift items, but he is now identified.

One day after requesting help seeking the suspect's identity, the Southington Police Department Wednesday morning said he has been identified and an arrest is pending.

"The Southington Police Department would once again like to thank the valuable members of our community for their routine participation in these types of investigations," wrote the SPD on social media Wednesday morning.

Tuesday morning, police said it was investigating an attempted shoplifting /larceny incident that occurred Monday, April 22, at about 5:35 p.m.

The incident occurred at the Home Depot on Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Southington.

Police released surveillance images of the male suspect and the involved vehicle.

According to the SPD, the value of the merchandise was approximately $700 and it was recovered by the store's loss prevention department.
