Southington PD Warns Of Phone Cam Utilizing A Fake Cop

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police are warning residents about a phone scam making the rounds in the area in which someone is claiming to be a Southington Police Department officer.

The SPD has recently received multiple complaints about a person named “Officer Canty,” who claims to be from the department.

Police said this person is contacting residents via telephone, usually from the phone number 860-419-0567, but may be different, and claims the person being called missed a court date.

The SPD said this is not true and is a scam.

"Do not provide this individual with any information and hang up the phone," wrote Southington police.
