Southington Police Arrest Trio for Spartans II Break-In

Southington police charged the three with burglary.

SOUTHINGTON - The Southington Police Department Detective Division, in collaboration with Waterbury and Meriden police, have arrested three suspects related to a break-in at the Spartans II restaurant in February, according to a news release.

On Thursday, David McCulloch, 36 of Naugatuck, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, according to a news release.

On March 17, Patrick Tomkus, 35 of Waterbury, was arrested and a day later, Shawn Chandler, 20 of Waterbury, was arrested, according to a news release.

They were charged with the same crimes, police said.

On Feb. 2 just before 5 a.m., Southington police received a report of a burglar alarm at Spartans II, located at 930 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike.

Police said that upon their arrival, officers found that a door on the South-side of the building had been forced open.

Officers cleared the interior of the building and found that two cash registers in the bar area and a cash register in the take-out area were pried open, according to a news release.

An unknown amount of cash was taken during the burglary. A Police dog tracking operation for the suspects was unsuccessful. Investigators are working on obtaining video surveillance of the incident, police said.
