Southington Police Dog Seeks Social Media Stardom
The Southington Police Department is hoping folks subscribe to one of its police dog's Instagram pages.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A key member of the Southington Police Department is looking to become a social media sensation, with local police asking for the public's help to do just that.
SPD canine Luke Jacob is the department's emotional support dog, a role he's had in the SPD since 2022.
Jacob's job is to provide emotional support to the community, local police, and the local school system to help folks deal with what is sometimes a very bad day in their lives.

But his job is to also be a representative of the SPD and the local community in general and police are hoping the creation of an Instagram page for Luke Jacob will help toward that end.
There, Instagram subscribers can expect to see all sorts of photos of Luke Jacob's cute, brindled face as he goes about his day.

The loveable canine came to the SPD through a donation from the nonprofit K-9's for Warriors and The Jacob Perkins Memorial Fund.
The Jacob Perkins Memorial Fund was created in memory of Jacob Perkins, who died by suicide in 2019 at age 20.
That fund helps the SPD support its support dog program as well as its K-9 unit.
