Southington Police: 'Illegible' Pot Prescription Leads to Charges against Teen

He was arrested this week.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - A local teen is facing drug and forgery charges, police said.

On Tuesday at 11:12 p.m., police responded to the area of the cul-de-sac on Ashwell Drive for an

anonymous complaint about a suspicious vehicle.

When they arrived, officers found Jarrod Marotto, 18 of Southington, in the driver’s seat of the car, according to a news release.

Police said a Juvenile was found in passenger seat.

Officers found evidence of marijuana use within the vehicle, according to a news release.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and three jars and a prescription bottle containing suspected
marijuana were found, along with smoking pipes, a suspected false driver’s license and paraphernalia commonly associated with the sale of marijuana, police said.

One of the jars was labeled as prescription marijuana, but the name on the prescription was illegible and Marotta did not have a medical marijuana prescription, police said.

Marotto was taken into custody and transported to police peadquarters where he was charged with
possession of a controlled Substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to
sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal Possession of a prescription drug and forgery in the second degree, police said.

Marroto was released on a $2,500.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 1, police said.
