Southington Police Make Arrest In April Attempted Bank Robbery

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Police said they have arrested Meriden man suspected of trying to rob a bank in April.
Dennis Dean, 45, of 350 Broad St., Meriden, was arrested on Friday and charged with attempt to commit second-degree robbery, according to a Record-Journal story.
The robbery took place on April 18.

Southington police said in a detailed news release that a man walked into the Liberty Bank branch at 60 North Main St., demanded money, but then left without getting any cash.
Police said they were alerted to the robbery attempt at 1:29 p.m.

The suspect was described as a white male between 30 and 40 years old with a goatee wearing jeans, a black sweatshirt and a camouflage hat.
The suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller requesting cash, but left before getting anything, police said.
The suspect was operating a red, older model Ford F-150 or F-250 pickup truck. The truck and the man were captured in detail on security cameras. Police released the pictures shortly after the robbery attempt.
A $500 reward was being offered by the Connecticut Bankers Reward Association for information leading to the apprehension of the "responsible party," police said.
