He put those people skills to use recently, one social media comment indicated.

"Yesterday a hearing impaired guy broke his collarbone in a softball accident. Called the ambulance and Officer LoCastro was the first to respond," the comment stated. "He was great making due with what he knew about deaf people and really helped the situation."

LoCastro is a Field Training Officer, who has "consistently demonstrated an emphasis on personnel development and community relations," officials said.

Another comment stated, "Great guy ... He came over last year when my car was broken into. He then told me about in 2020 when I had a medical problem and Officer LoCastro was one of the first ones there (I was so sick, I can’t remember who the first responders were) but when he was at my house for the police report for my car, he said he had always wondered how things ended up being for me. It's nice that he remembered and took the extra time to ask me."
