Police said signs will be posted in the area advising motorists of the checkpoint.
Southington is already considered to be a flashpoint for wrong-way drivers given the nature of several on- and off-ramps to I-84 withing its borders.
Seen as being central the issue is drunk and/or impaired driving, which the SPD is cracking down on.
On March 10, Gov. Ned Lamont and state officials gathered in Southington near I-84 to unveil the state's campaign against wrong-way driving, called "One Wrong Move."
