Southington Police Rule Out Sex Assault at Care Facility

An investigation by Southington police has ruled out a potential sexual assault at a local care facility.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police have ruled out a possible sexual assault involving an elderly woman at a local care facility after an investigation turned up no foul play.

On Aug. 2, the Hospital of Central Connecticut reported a possible sexual assault to the Southington Police Department, according to a news release. The possible victim was a 91-year-old woman at the Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Ave.

Police said a preliminary examination did point to injuries that could have been from a sexual assault, but after conducting a further investigation and interviews, they ruled out any criminal activity. A second examination of the woman also revealed that an "injury" was not the result of a sexual assault, police said.
