Wanted: New Southington Police Officers

The Southington Police Department Monday put out a call seeking applicants for patrol officer positions within the local force.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police Monday issued a proverbial "all points bulletin" for a new police officer position it is looking to fill.

The department sent out a notice that is wants to hire entry-level officers to begin his or her law enforcement career.

Prospective candidates have until July 15 to apply.

Among the minimum qualifications are: high school graduate; be at least 21; be a U.S. citizen; have a valid motor vehicle operator's license; and not have a conviction by a court for any felony, class A or B misdeamenor and must not "have committed any act which would constitute perjury or false statement," according to the job qualifications.

Following a rigorous training process at the academy level, officers can, then, begin training within the Southington Police Department.
