SOUTHINGTON, CT — The ninth-annual Southington Police Department Stuff-a-Cruiser

Officers, civilian personnel, family members, and Cadets from the Southington Police Department will be at Southington Wal-Mart collecting toys and gifts.
This event began with one officer trying to help out one family whose members had Christmas literally stolen away from them and has grown into an annual tradition, police said.

This year, as in years past, police are asking for the public’s help in collecting items for not only younger children, but teens and pre-teens as well. These items include such things as clothing, blankets, bedding, coats and other winter outerwear, shoes and other needed items, police said.
All of the items collected will be donated to Southington Community Services and will be distributed to needy families in the greater Southington area, police said.
In the past, the drive has generated "large amounts of donations," and has "helped out families during the holiday season," police said.
