Southington Police: Teller Heads Altered Check Off At The Pass

A Hartford woman is facing criminal charges as a result, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - A Hartford woman tried to sneak a fudged "paycheck" traced back to Southington at a bank but was thwarted by an alert teller, police said.

Sasha Veal, 29 of Hartford, CT. surrendered to police on a warrant, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

Veal was charged with forgery in the second degree and criminal attempt of larceny in the fourth degree, police said.

.Veal was released on a $1,500 non- surety bond and given a court date of June 14 in Bristol.

The warrant charges that alleges that on April 6, Veal attempted to cash an altered business check in her name that she claimed was a paycheck from a business that she does not work for.

The bank teller became suspicious of the check and did not complete the transaction, according to the warrant.

The transaction was attempted in Waterbury and the account holder is a Southington resident., police said.

The check was written out for $1,363.92, police said.
