Southington Police Union Suing for Costs Associated With Fatal Crash Suit Against Officer

Two suits have now been filed in Southington fatal crash case.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local police union has filed a lawsuit seeking the costs and any possible penalties for an officer being sued over a fatal car crash in April 2016.

Stephen McEleney, attorney for the Southington Law Enforcement Alliance, stated in the lawsuit filed Aug. 4, the Record-Journal reported.

Police reports indicate that in April 2016, Officer Ryan Lair and his girlfriend, Krista Pikora, were out together, but drove home separately. Pikora struck another car in a crash that killed Brandon Caron, 30, while driving with a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit, reports indicate.
