Southington PZC OKs Small Industrial Development
The unanimous vote was for a building project on a parcel of land zoned for industry.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A vacant parcel will soon have a little bit of industrial development after Southington officials voted recently to support construction of a small industrial building in town.
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously voted 7-0 to support construction of a 7,452-square-foot industrial building at 15 E. Summer St. on land zoned industrial.
Technically, the PZC approved a site plan application for the small, industrial development being pitched by Andrew Florian of Plantsville, a developer and owner of the property.

In addition, the property will include landscaping as a visual buffer to the site and vinyl fencing will be erected on both sides of the driveway.
The project has already received the blessing of Southington's inland wetlands commission and has been reviewed by town staffers in fire, health and water departments.
Severino Bovino of the Waterbury-based Kratzert Jones and Associates said the type of business planned at the site is a small business storage/work area.
No details of any possible clients for the site were revealed yet, but updated drawings of the building show 10-foot-by-10-foot garage bays, offices and entrance doors.
There is no specific company names attached to the submitted plans, but upon questioning by the PZC, Bovino offered some clues on behalf of his client.
"This is planned for a small business where they need a space to bring their equipment and have a place to make a phone call in the morning and then come back later in the day when they're done with what they're doing," Bovino said.
