Southington Registered Sex Offender Charged With Trying to Meet Boy

Southington police announced the arrest Monday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man already on the state sex offender registry has been charged for trying to set up a meeting with a minor, police said.

According to a news release, the Southington Police Department received information late Friday night that Keith Dubin, 31, of Southington, contacted what he believed to be a 14-year-old boy via social media.

During the the online interactions, Dubin requested photos of the youth and they agreed to meet up at a
designated location in Southington, according to a news release.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Southington police patrol, detective and information technology divisions and an arrest warrant was obtained for Dubin charging him with criminal attempt to commit risk of injury to a minor and criminal attempt to possess child pornography, according to a news release.

Dubin was listed on the state sex offender registry after a 2006 conviction for second-degree possession of child porn, records show. His address on the registry is 146 Delahunty Drive, Southington.

Dubin was held on a $100,000 court-set bond and was to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Monday, police said.
