Southington Resident Among Those Killed in Enfield Crash

The fatal accident closed a section of the highway for several hours this weekend. State Police released the victim's names on Tuesday.

ENFIELD, CT — State police on Tuesday afternoon released the names of the three people killed in a single-car crash on Interstate-91 in Enfield Sunday morning and one of them is from Southington.

The crash took place at 7:18 a.m., according to a report.

The victims are passengers: Taahir Harris, 19, of Plum Orchard Road in Southington, Kerion Rogers, 20, of Beths Avenue in Bristol and Moses Negron, 18, of Walker Road in New Britain.

The driver, Christopher A. Vega, 20, of Park Street in Plainville, suffered a minor injury in the accident. State police said in a report that Vega's vehicle, a 1999 Lexus GS300, was traveling on I-91 in the area of Exit 47E when it veered off the right side of the roadway.

The vehicle traveled through the grass shoulder, up an embankment and hit a tree, state police said. The three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. Vega was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford for non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.

The accident remains under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact state police at the Troop H barracks, 860-534-1000.
