Southington Resident Due In Court In School Sex Assault Case
A Southington resident is due in court this week in a school sex assault case and his lawyer is claiming his innocence.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington resident who is a teacher in the Wolcott school system is due to appear in court Thursday to face charges in a sexual assault case involving a student, judicial system records show.
On Sept. 5, Wolcott police arrested Michael Forgione, 49, of the Plantsville section of Sothington on a warrant, police said. He was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree breach of peace.
The case dates back to May, when Wolcott police received a complaint against Forgione, who is a physical education teacher at Wolcott High School, according to a report. The complaint was made by a Wolcott High School student, police said.

Once the complaint was received, Forgione was immediately suspended with pay and was prohibited from having any contact with students while the investigation was being conducted, authorities said.
Forgione is currently free on a $10,000 bond.

In a statement to the New Britain Herald, Forgione's lawyer claimed his innocence.
