Southington resident joins HHC Center for Healthy Aging team

Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging recently welcomed a new resource coordinator to its location at Hartford Hospital Family Health Center, 35 Talcottville Road. The Vernon office opened in June.

Southington resident Jennifer McCaughey, MS, who joined the Center for Healthy Aging team in July, relocated to the Vernon office in November. As a resource coordinator, McCaughey works closely with families and caregivers to provide essential information and connections with services to achieve the optimal quality of life. Free comprehensive assessments are also offered to determine the appropriate level and types of care.

McCaughey holds a master’s of science degree in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts – Boston and a bachelor’s of arts degree in gerontology from Quinnipiac University in Hamden. She previously worked as an assistant therapeutic recreation director and volunteer coordinator in a long-term care setting.

“My involvement with the older population has been a lifelong endeavor, starting with a strong relationship with my grandparents and leading to volunteer experiences in elder services. I realized that I wanted to dedicate my career to supporting and advocating for this population that has given me so much through their wisdom and life experiences,” McCaughey said. “My passion for working in the gerontology field lies in improving quality of life through providing resources, support and hope to older adults in all situations.”
