Southington Schools Hire Principal, Assistant Principal
The board of education voted to hire a new principal at South End Elementary School and an assistant principal at JFK Middle School.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The town's school board Wednesday evening hired two school administrators to join the system, including an elementary school principal and a middle school assistant principal.
In a special meeting via Zoom Thursday evening, the Southington Board of Education appointed Susan J. Gariepy as principal of South End Elementary School, according to Southington Superintendent of Schools Steven G. Madancy.
Gariepy is a Connecticut native who currently lives in Severance, Colo., and will be coming back to her home state, Madancy said.

According to a Southington School System release, Gariepy has been a school administrator for nine years, with six years as an elementary school principal.
Gariepy earned a bachelor of arts in English and a master’s in education from the University of Florida, school officials said.

In addition, she earned her EdS certification in educational leadership from the University of Northern Colorado, Madancy said.
In addition, the local board of education voted to hire Marc DiDominzio as the assistant principal of John F. Kennedy Middle School. He starts Aug. 12.
DiDominzio comes to Southington from Manchester Public Schools with seven years administrative experience, most recently serving the past four as assistant principal of Illing Middle School.
Prior to serving in various administrative roles, DiDominzio served as a high school business teacher and department chair at Manchester High School, Madancy said.
