Southington Seeks Holiday Light Display 'Switch Flippers'
Southington is accepting entries from local children to turn on the town green's light display at a special event on Dec. 1.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — One of the biggest thrills in Southington will be decided this month as part of the annual "Light Up The Green" contest for the holiday season.
The town's famous holiday light display on the Southington Town Green will officially be turned on for the season on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at 5:30 p.m.

And the Southington Recreation Department would like to invite a resident child to flip the switch and light up the night.
To that end, Southington residents (which includes residents of Plantsville, Marion and Milldale) ages 3-10 are eligible to be entered online for a chance to be chosen as the official "switch flipper."

Immediate family members of the selected child are welcome to assist on the day of the event.
One entry per child will be accepted and duplicate entries will be discarded.
Entries will only be accepted via submission of an online form (no phone calls, emails or paper entries).
One winner will be selected from a random drawing of all eligible entries on Monday, Nov. 27, and will be notified by telephone.
The entry portal opened on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and it continues until Sunday, Nov. 26.
