Southington Seeks Volunteers For Spring Food Drive
The 'Backpacks for Break Food Drive' aims to support local students during the upcoming Spring Break next month.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington-based nonprofit Southington Bread for Life is partnering with Southington Public Schools and the United Way of Southington to host a Backpacks for Break Food Drive aimed at supporting local students during the upcoming Spring Break.
The effort will provide backpacks filled with snacks, drinks, and easy-to-prepare meals for Southington students in need, organizers said.
The goal is to ensure “So No One Goes Hungry” while school is not in session.

Volunteers are needed to help collect donations during two upcoming drives at the Southington Walmart, 235 Queen St.
Organizers will be stationed at the store from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, and Saturday, March 14.

Collected items will be used to assemble bags for families in need over school breaks, including the April vacation.
Youth volunteers are welcome. Elementary-aged volunteers must be accompanied by an adult.
