Southington Seeks Winter Gloves Ahead Of Free Clothing Shop

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Community Services is seeking donations of winter gloves ahead of the October opening of its annual Operation Stay Warm Winter Clothing Shop.

The program distributes new or gently used winter coats, hats, gloves and other cold-weather accessories at no cost to members of the Southington community.

Organizers said there is an immediate need for warm, insulated, and waterproof winter gloves for men, women, and children.

Glove donations will be accepted through Sept. 25 at four locations:

• Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St.
• Southington Community Services, 91 Norton St., Plantsville.
• Southington Public Library, 255 Main St.
• Southington YMCA, 29 High St.

The Operation Stay Warm shop will run from Oct. 3 through Oct. 17 at the Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 Church St., on the lower level.

The shop will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to noon.

All clothing and accessories are provided free because of donations from community members and program partners.
