Southington Sporting Goods Store Closes After Two Decades
The store, part of a national retail chain, shuttered its doors last week as the owner retired. It is for sale.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A discount sporting goods/clothing store in Southington that specialized in consigned as well as new merchandise has closed its doors.
Play It Again Sports, located at 685 Queen St., Southington, closed last week after 20 years in operation as owner Janet Carangelo retired, according to an announcement from the store.
The store’s final day of business was April 15, but Carangelo is looking for a new owner, so the store may not be closed for good.

The store, located at 685 Queen St., operates as part of a franchised retail chain under Winmark Corp. out of Minnesota.
Each location is independently owned and operated.

The Southington location is also being offered for sale, according to the announcement, indicating a potential ownership transition rather than a permanent vacancy.
No buyer has been identified.
