Their actions helped save the friend’s life.
“These teens set a powerful example—stepping forward in an emergency when it mattered most and helping save a friend’s life,” the Red Cross said in a statement.
Details of the incident were previously reported by the Southington Outsider, which described the rescue and resuscitation efforts.
In a separate statement posted March 24, the Southington Fire Department noted the outcome of the incident, writing: “Positive outcome in a terrible situation. CPR saves lives!”
The Red Cross used the recognition to encourage residents to learn lifesaving skills, urging the public to seek CPR and first aid training as part of Red Cross Month observances.
