Southington Throwing Retiring Town Manager A July Soiree

Tickets are on sale for the July 17 event, with the town manager's last day being next month.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington Town Council is hosting a retirement celebration for the town manager, who is stepping down next month, and tickets are on sale now.

Southington Town Manager Mark Sciota announced his retirement last December and it becomes effective when his contract is up at the end of this fiscal year, June 30.

The council is planning the celebration on the heels of its Monday appointment of Southington Corporation Counsel Alex Ricciardone to be the next manager.

Sciota has been with the town since the mid-1990s when he was assistant town attorney and town attorney.

From 2016-17, he was assistant town manager and he's been Southington's top appointed official since 2017.

On Wednesday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m., the town council is hosting a retirement party/dinner for Sciota at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

Tickets are on sale now out of the town manager's office, 75 Main St., Southington.
