Southington Ties for Third at Class LL Wrestling Championships

TRUMBULL, CT — Despite not having a single individual weight class champion, the quality and depth of the Southington High School wrestling roster enabled the Blue Knights to tie for third at the Class LL championships, which concluded Saturday at Trumbull High School.

Eight Southington wrestlers placed in the top six to give the team 175 points, tied with Trumbull behind champion Danbury and runnerup Fairfield Warde.

Blue Knight placewinners and their weight classes were:

• 2nd - Paul Calo, 170
• 3rd - Tagan Welch, 152; Jacob Vecchio, 220
• 4th - Jacob Cardozo, 126; William Carr, 160
• 5th - Caleb Brick, 106; Jason Brault, 132; Shaun Wagner, 138
