Southington Town Clerk Showcases Historic Records For America 250

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington Town Clerk's Office is inviting residents to explore the town's history during a special exhibit celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

The exhibit will be on display from Monday, June 29, through July 2 during regular town clerk's office hours, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The display commemorates the nation's semiquincentennial by highlighting some of Southington's earliest municipal records.

According to the town clerk's office, Southington was incorporated in 1779, just three years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view historic town land records, maps, town directories, and other archival materials.

The exhibit also includes a pop-up display on loan from the Barnes Museum in Southington.

The Southington Town Clerk's Office said the exhibit offers residents a chance to learn more about Southington's early history and its place in the nation's founding era as communities across the country mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.
