Southington Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Littering Charges

A man was also charged with littering after drugs were found at a Southington traffic stop.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man is facing several criminal charges after a traffic stop in Southington, police said.

At 7:06 p.m. on Feb. 24, Jonnathan Alvarado, 39, of Plainville was arrested for driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, two counts of illegal possession of narcotics, two counts of narcotics possession with the intent to sell and littering, a report indicates.

According to a report, Alvarado was seen by a patrol officer operating a vehicle erratically on Queen Street. When Alvarado was stopped, he dropped an item out of his window — an unlabeled prescription bottle containing "narcotic pills" and cocaine, according to a report.

The pills and cocaine were packaged for sale, police said.

Alvarado was intoxicated, police said.

He was released on a $25,000 non surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Court on March 5, 2018.
