Southington Volunteers Sought To Help Elderly Residents

UR Community Cares is looking for folks from Southington to volunteer to work with seniors and help them maintain independent lives.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Connecticut nonprofit is looking for Southington residents to volunteer and help in its quest to help elderly residents live more independent lives.

Manchester-basedUR Community Cares is looking for folks from Southington to help seniors with day-to-day needs that are difficult to achieve, especially if loved ones are living far away.

UR Community Cares matches volunteers with seniors, with a side benefit, often, being a new friendship.

Volunteers help seniors do everything from household chores, teaching them how to use cell phones/computers to cooking endeavors.

"We're looking for passionate volunteers to help our aging neighbors thrive," wrote UR Community Cares Executive Director Michelle Puzzo last month.

"Whether it's removing an air conditioner, gardening, organizing, or teaching technology, your skills and time are invaluable."

She said her organization is looking to partner volunteers with aging residents in Southington who need support to stay independent at home.

"Become part of a community that supports and uplifts each other. Flexibility in commitment allows you to volunteer based on your availability and interests," wrote Puzzo.
