Southington Voters Approve 2 of 3 Local Referendum Questions, Incumbents Win

Southington voters approved two of three referendum questions for large scale infrastructure projects.

Voters approved the upgrade to the Water Pollution Control Facility. The final vote was 8,762 for and 6,892 against.

A measure to fix nearly 300 roads and bridges at a cost of up to $11 million for taxpayers passed overwhelmingly with 11,040 voters in favor and 4,759 against.

Voters weren’t as keen to appropriate $2.64 million for sewer improvements on Welch Road; 6,978 voted in favor and 8,590 opposed.

Republican incumbent state Sen. Joe Markley beat challenger Christopher Robertson in the state Senate 16th District, according to the Hartford Courant.

State Rep. Joe Aresimowicz won in an uncontested race. Republican incumbent Robert Sampson was re-elected in the 80th state house representative district and Democrat David Zoni won re-election in the 81st, according to the Record-Journal.

Incumbent Republican Al Adinolfi won in the 103rd district.
