Southington Wants To Correct Errors On Veterans Monument
The town's veterans committee is looking to fix spelling errors and address omissions to the monument.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — To err is human and the Southington Veterans Committee is aware of that.
That's why the local organization is asking for the public's help in correcting any possible spelling errors on the town's World War II, Korea and Vietnam War era monument on the town green.
The commission said there are some spellings and omissions from the monument and they would like to fix the situation.

That's why they're asking family of those listed on the local monument to call the committee and correct the spelling of the name if that is the case.
Meanwhile, the committee is also asking the family of veterans who should be on the monument, but who are omitted for whatever reason, to contact the organization to rectify that situation as well.

In order for a veteran to be added to the monument, the "home of record" on the Veterans DD-214 form must say "Southington" as the hometown.
There is an online application to be added to monuments on the Town of Southington's website (southington.org) under the "veterans committee" tab.
In addition, there are hard copy forms for monument additions at the Southington Public Library, 255 Main St., and Southington Town Hall, 75 Main St.
