Southington Wants Residents to Conserve Water

The request to water lawns on an even/odd schedule is voluntary.

The Town of Southington is asking its residents to voluntarily curb their use of water.

According to the Record-Journal, the town’s Water Department sent out a notice Sept. 4 asking for cooperation in conserving water because of the hot weather and lack of rain.

Department Superintendent Frederick Rogers said he wants customers to follow an even/odd watering schedule, with even-numbered homes watering on even-numbered days. Those with an odd number should water on odd-numbered days, the paper reported.
