Southington Water Bills Going Up
The Southington Board of Water Commissioners recently voted to approve a 12 percent hike in water rates.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Water customers in Southington will notice a slight uptick in their bills starting this month.
That's because the Southington Board of Water Commissioners late last month unanimously approved a new fee schedule for water services, upping rates by nearly 12 percent.
Billed quarterly and charged based on the amount of water per 100 cubic feet (CCF), the rates amount to a figure less than 50 cents per CCF.

For a quarterly bill, depending on the meter size and water consumption, it will mean anywhere from a $3.43 hike in the water bill to $64.61, according to the new fee schedule.
The fees were approved at the July 27 Southington Board of Water Commissioners meeting and came after a public hearing.

It took place at water department administrative offices located at 605 W. Queen St., Southington.
The hearing and meeting featured no testimony and lasted all of three minutes, according to meeting minutes.
