SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Apple Harvest Festival returns to the Town Green for its second and final weekend this Columbus Day weekend, and the Barnes Museum adds a seasonal look at how Victorians mourned their dead.

• The Southington Apple Harvest Festival — Friday through Sunday, Oct. 9-11. The free festival, in its 57th year, wraps up its second weekend with its famous apple fritters and other food vendors, live music, an arts and crafts marketplace on Saturday and Sunday, and carnival rides; it raises money for local nonprofits.   • The Final Farewell: Victorian Funeral Traditions — Friday, Oct. 9, 3 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m. The 45-minute specialty tour shows a recreated Victorian viewing room and the rituals and artifacts of the era. Admission is $10 for adults, registration is required and museum passes are not accepted; parking is behind the museum off Merrell Avenue. Barnes Museum, 85 North Main Street
